Lining up and transitioning
Violet's been counting for a while, but now she's actually starting to count things and to line them up.
She shook out lots of tea bags and then lined them up in a row and counted them.
Another new development is that she wants to use a transitional object to go to sleep. Back when I was reading everything I could get my hands on about how babies learn to sleep, I read a lot about getting them to use a stuffed animal to sleep with as sort of a replacement for having to always have a parent there. Well, that didn't work for us. It always distracted her, kept her more alert, and if I left one for her and she woke up just a little, seeing it would always wake her all the way up and then no more nap. But just over the past two weeks, she's actually wanted to sleep with a stuffed animal.
This is her, just now, cuddling Little Nutbrown Hare.

Can I just say, I love that little girl? Never met her, and I love her.
She is too adorable. May I ask if how old she was before she would sleep on her own? My son is 25 months old and still flips out if we try to sneak away at night. He is determined to be a co-sleeper for life but his little sister wants me with her, too!
I would love a little encouragement and to know that he will eventually sleep through the night?
Thanks :)
